LET’S GET LOUD!ー楽しむのはあなた！ 主役はあなただ！ー

This year’s theme for JYDF is…
今年のJYDFのテーマは…

LET’S GET LOUD!

In itself, I interpret it very differently from the Japanese translation that was shared in the outline. But in essence, I can see the connection.
実施概要にも記載されていますが、私には少し違う理解があります。

The Japanese translation of the JYDF theme is ［楽しむのはあなた！ 主役はあなただ！］which translated back to English means, “Enjoy yourself! You are the main character!”
テーマの日本語翻訳は「楽しむのはあなた！ 主役はあなただ！」です。英語では「”Enjoy yourself! You are the main character!”」

So, in turn, meaning not being soft, shy, and hiding in the background!
その日本語の意味から考えた、私の理解は「恥ずかしがらず、緊張しなくていい、後ろに隠れないで！」です。

Not being a wallflower (just an unnoticed unassuming decoration on the side),
Be Loud! Get Noticed! Be Center Stage! And have fun! Let your story be told!
それは、ただの飾りにならないよう、うるさくなって、自分をお客様に見て貰って、堂々とセンターステージに立ち、楽しんでください、自分の物語を伝えていく、という意味ではないかと。

I LOVE THIS THEME! It is so great!
僕自身、このテーマが大好きです！ 素晴らしいテーマですよね。

I am often reminded of how the norms of Japanese Society are strongly controversial regarding this theme.

ただこのテーマを考えたときに、日本社会の規範によって、賛否両論おこす可能性があることを思い知らされることが多々あります。

Don’t stand out. Don’t be different. Don’t be loud and abrasive. Just follow the rules, and follow what everyone else is doing. When people do swim against the tide, or try to stand out it is common that they are outcasted and looked down upon by others in the “Norm” of society.
目立ってはいけない。人と違うことをするな。うるさくしたり、擦れたりしないでください。ルールに従って、みんながやっていることに従う。潮流に逆らって行動し、目立ってしまうと、社会の「普通」の人たちから疎外され、見下されてしまうこともあるかもしれません。

But when we take those chances of standing out and vulnerably risk our comfortable lives as we know them to pursue our personal truth and happiness, we can find fulfillment in our lives that we might not have otherwise known. Because our individuality is honesty! And It can lead to innovation! And innovation is the future.
しかし、私たちが目立つチャンスをつかみ、おかれている環境にリスクがあったとしても、自分たちの信念や幸福を追求するとき、私たちは他の方法では知り得なかったかもしれない充実感を自分の人生に見いだすことができます。なぜなら、私たちの個性は正直だからです。そして、それはイノベーションにつながり、イノベーションこそが未来につながっていくことなのです。

So Let’s Get Loud and show our truth through the awesome expression of dance!
ですので「LET’S GET LOUD」のテーマに沿って、素晴らしいダンスで私たちの心を見せましょう！
